Elena Ruiz Casanova, originally from Yucatan, Mexico, began dancing professionally at age 14, and continued her professional career for the next 12 years. Elena’s many years of dance and its demands took a toll on her back and knees. In 1998 she was introduced to Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis®, which quickly helped to correct her alignment and ease her pain. Elena was amazed at the ease and effectiveness of the system, just a few simple moves and she felt great, and decided to delve deeper into it. In 2004 she was given the opportunity to apprentice at Studio Riverside and she hasn’t looked back since. Today Elena is a Certified Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® Trainer, is trained in Gyrotonic® applications For Golf, Pre & Post Natal Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis®, “Mommy and me” Gyrokinesis® and is also certified in many of the different Gyrotonic specialized equipment. Elena enjoys working with clients from all walks of life, from dancers and athletes to those who are new to working with their bodies. She especially enjoys working with clients who are in need of rehabilitation and has had the opportunity to work with several clients who’ve had Parkinson’s Disease. Elena currently works at Gyrotonic New York at Studio Riverside as well as in private homes.
