While dancing in New York in 1988, Mira first encountered Gyrotonic at the White Cloud Studio with founder Juliu Horvath. The system helped her to rehabilitate from a broken metatarsal and torn ligaments. This began an almost 20 year relationship with Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis. She is presently on staff at GYROTONIC® New York and continues to study with Master Trainer Leda Franklin.

Throughout her career Mira has discovered that Gyrokinesis and Gyrotonic helped answer some perplexing questions she encountered in her quest to be a healthy performer/mother. How can you warm-up in a small dressing room waiting to go on? How can you play guitar and sing for hours without killing your back or getting too tired? How can you bounce back from pregnancies and return mobility to your changing body? Her teaching is based on these life experiences.

Mira was a recipient of the Helena Rubenstein Foundation Scholarship allowing her to study at the Martha Graham School and dance for the Martha Graham Ensemble and The Martha Graham Dance Company under Yuriko and Peggy Lyman. Under the tutelage of Yuriko she performed the role of Eliza in “The King and I,” and “The Cry.” She has studied Ballet with Gabriela Darvash and Peff Modelski; Horton with Miguel Lopez, Jolea Maffei and Milton Myers; and Bharata Natyam with Kamala Cesar.
Mira graduated from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, (BFA with honors) with a degree in Film/Television. She is a member of Actor’s Equity and has an ongoing relationship with Theater for the New City. Mira has taught Ballet and Bharata Natyam for the National Dance Institute (New York) and Celebrate the Beat (Aspen). Currently she is affiliated with The Pelech School and Rahout Friendship School in Israel, and is a resident choreographer/musician for Congregation B’nai Jeshurun and Congregation Habonim in New York City.
