Studio Riverside offers a truly unique approach to health, fitness, and movement utilizing the Gyrotonic Expansion System®, invented by Juliu Horvath, a renowned Romanian ballet dancer, gymnast, swimmer, and yoga master.
Studio Riverside was opened in 1992 by Leda Franklin. The studio has handcrafted wooden machines, upon which our clients perform three dimensional, circular movements with friction, spring and weight resistance.
The Gyrotonic Expansion System® is based on dance, swimming, and gymnastics as well as on yoga and tai-chi. This system enables one to achieve simultaneous strength and flexibility, facilitating full articulation of the joints, neuro-muscular coordination and balance. As result, we help our clients develop a body with lean musculature, which is strong, flexible, and injury free.
